GEEK-SPEAK

2.27.2005

12:58 AM

Hmm...the zv5000z only comes with an antiquated GeForce4 GPU, not even DirectX9 supported, which made the graphics test sucky on all the reviews. Why get a notebook with an advanced processor, but an outdated GPU?

advanced + outdated = average

I'm going to hope and wait HP upgrades the specs by July or release a better Athlon 64 notebook.

here's something I found of of Tim Lee's xanga. it's like dating for geeks.

"Ever feel like your cache is only 128 when its supposed to be 512? Yeah its a lot like when a girl comes by and says you dont have any character. Man, thats like saying your a celeron with faulty architechture. Yeah thats right, she called you cheap, common, poorly made and overheating. Well, i think her baud rating was far above what her cables could withstand, im sure death chimes will becoming from that Duron structured brain. I bet you could try and stick her with some flash memory from your jump drive, but you would get fatal error, because there wouldnt be any format to her brain, because she is in constant need of a defrag.

Pity on you if you understand all of that. Really."

Congrats to all those seniors who made it into Cal Poly! Tuesday starts the most nerve-wrecking month of a senior's life: decision time. may God truly reveal His will for our lives through the decisions of college admissions.

HADOUKENS

2.24.2005

11:51 PM

random tidbits and blessings no one care about (hadoukens):

-The City of Dublin finally decided to turn on the new traffic lights at the corner of Dublin Blvd. and Inspiration Drive. While this now allows me to make 90-degree turns going 45 down the hill in my SUV, it has also caused the backup to move down the street to the corner of Silvergate and Dublin Blvd. They also didn't make the right turn up the hill a protected turn, so everyone's going to have to make a quickie California stop before they proceed up the hill tomorrow morning.

-Kevin received both his free iPod and his digital camera this week, one package after another. This now marks the point in time where his toys are better than my toys. Kinda sad being the geek I am, but oh well. And no, I am not going to upgrade my iPod anytime soon! And no, I'm not going to buy myself a Mac.

-I was able to successfully finish apps for the two most Asian scholarships offered: the Jackie Chan Scholarship and the Bruce Lee Scholarship. While you have to be of Asian heritage to qualify, amazing martial arts skills are not necessary.

-I've been receiving what seems like one letter a day from UIUC now that I'm an accepted applicant. They're all giving me the chance to visit their open house with included accomodations and food, but it's still during school so I had to decline them all. Sigma Phi Delta sounded sort've interesting though...

-Computer is still not working for some strange reason. People may call me a geek, but this one's got me stumped.

-You know what I'd really like right now? I NEED A NEW PROFILE PIC! FIND ME A NEW PROFILE PIC and I'll give you a hug!

    THIS IS MY BLOGGER POST

    2.12.2005

    12:33 AM

What a rip. not only is our senior shirt plain, has a boring message with no identification that we are VCHS c/o '05, but they forget the period on the only message on the shirt, which if you think of it makes all the difference. It's just a plain black shirt with this one sentence (minus the period) and "05" real small on one of the sleeves.

And who the heck decided on the font for this shirt? Curlz??? it's supposed to be a typewriter font, or at least something more neutral.

You take a look and see what I mean:

And I paid how much for this???

VCHS MAKES STELLAR DEBUT AT SCIENCE BOWL

    2.05.2005

    2:04 PM

The VCHS made an amazing debut at the Regional Science Bowl 2005! Our group of 10 students in 2 teams didn't have real high expectations of the competition, but were we surprised! Both the teams got placed in a difficult bracket consisting of teams from CCS, Foothill, and Los Altos. Team 2 had a tough time, but my team reached a 3-2 record in the round robin, beating Los Altos and the other VCHS team.

In a dramatic end to an already exciting day, our team ended up in a 3-way tie with Los Altos and CCS. Answering from a tie-breaker list of 10 questions, we ended up with a high score of 1. However, news came that CCS's score was 0 and Los Altos' score was 1, but eliminated them because of their loss to us, allowing us to advance to elimination! We lost horribly to Abraham Lincoln school in the first elmination round, but overall it was really great! Carl was on the CCS team and Markus was the coach, so it was good to see them again.

NEW SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD: Dragostea Din Tei (Mai ah hee) - O-zone. Yes, it's the one from the popular net video with the fat kid lip sycing it and flashing pics of all his friends. makes me want to make a video of myself lip syncing it...errr...maybe not

    LOWEST OF LOWS

    2.02.2005

    1:49 PM

These past weeks have honestly been the worse weeks of my life. I've gone quite low, the lowest of lows. It started when I unfortunately came down with a really bad cold or something, and it left me basically unable to study or take any of my finals. I had to take them, though, and received, well let's just say, a low score on most of them. I'm still feeling sick and always seem to be tired.

I received strike one at ASB today because I had to fill in and help set up for Chapel when I was supposed to sell Homecoming tix. I even bothered to step away from the madness in the gym at the risk of being yelled at, but couldn't even find the table where I was supposed to sell tickets. Furthermore, setting up for chapel didn't help much, because I was supposed to set up the previous evening, but was sick and I didn't even know because I was busy gathering the equipment for chapel when Mrs. T announced it, so as far as I know, even my chapel leadership final isn't 100% at this point.

I'm not really sure why God is allowing me to go through these trials and go so low, but I know that He has a purpose greater than what I can see. I just have to keep reminding myself of 3 passages:

James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything"

Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"

So I know I'm tempted to pray that my life will improve and that I'll feel better, but maybe it's not God's will right now. For now, please pray that I will endure these trials with a Christ-like attitude, and that I will see the work of God in my life during these times of trouble.

To top off all my grief: "UPN CANCELLED STAR TREK!!!"
